Many believers want to pray but find that prayer has become a task to complete. We search for the right words, wonder whether we have prayed long enough, and measure the moment by what happens afterward. Jesus brings us back to the relationship at the heart of life with God. In John 17:3, He speaks of eternal life in terms of knowing the Father and the Son.
Come to the Father who invites you
Prayer begins with God's invitation to draw near. We bring real needs, grief, gratitude, and questions into His presence. Honest requests belong in that relationship. So do quiet attention, worship, confession, and thanksgiving. The goal is a growing life with God that continues after we finish speaking.
Let faithfulness shape your confidence
Scripture describes a God who initiates covenant relationship with His people. Jesus' death and resurrection are the foundation of our access to the Father. We can approach Him with confidence grounded in His faithfulness. A distracted morning or a difficult week can become the very place where we return to Him in humility and trust.
Build a conversation into the day
A relationship deepens through shared life. Read a short passage of Scripture and respond to what it reveals about God. Tell Him what is happening within you. Give thanks for specific expressions of His care. Bring your requests, then leave room to consider how His Word calls you to respond. This practice can be simple enough to carry into a busy day.
Your next step
Read John 17:1–5 and 1 John 1:3. Set aside ten unhurried minutes. Begin by addressing God as Father, speak honestly about one concern, and thank Him for one truth you have read.
Prayer
Father, draw me into a deeper life with You. Teach me to pray with honesty, confidence, and attention. Let my requests grow within a relationship marked by trust in Your faithfulness. Amen.
