A Spirit-Filled Life Carries Courage into the Everyday

Peter and John returned to the believers after being threatened for speaking about Jesus. The church responded by praying together. In Acts 4:23–31, their prayer reveals a community whose attention remained fixed on God and whose desire was to continue serving Him faithfully under pressure.

Begin with who God is

The believers addressed the sovereign Lord who made heaven and earth. Before asking for help, they remembered His greatness. They also drew on the words of Psalm 2. Scripture helped them understand their situation and gave language to their prayer. We can follow that pattern by letting God's character and His Word shape the way we bring our concerns to Him.

Ask for courage to obey

Their request included boldness to keep speaking God's Word and the continued work of His healing power through Jesus. They wanted people to encounter Christ. Spirit-given courage has that same direction. It can appear in a gentle conversation, an offer to pray, an honest testimony, or a decision to remain faithful when obedience has a cost.

Depend on the Spirit today

The believers were filled with the Holy Spirit and continued speaking with boldness. Ephesians 5:18 calls the church to be filled with the Spirit. This invites a continuing life of dependence expressed through prayer, worship, Scripture, repentance, obedience, and fellowship. We receive today's assignment with today's surrender to God.

Your next step

Read Acts 4:23–31. Pray with another believer about one situation where you need courage. Identify a kind, practical way to speak or act faithfully, then take that step with your confidence centered on Jesus.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, fill and lead me today. Let Your Word shape my prayers and Your love shape my courage. Help me speak about Jesus with humility and serve others with compassion. Amen.
